Did
you know...?
In ancient cultures, before boys could be considered men they needed to first
prove that they could survive alone in the wilderness for days at a time...
For girls to be considered women in some ancient cultures, they first needed to
prove their strength by eating native tobacco and not becoming ill. They also
would have to lie SILENTLY on an ant hill where thousands of ants often could
bite them repetitively!

The
use of flowers to help commemorate the passage from childhood into adulthood can
be traced back to our ancestors who wore garlands in their hair, wove flowers
into their fine grass skirts and wore long, flower necklaces. | | | |
